Rob's Predictions For 2016

Overview:  It’s time for my annual tradition of making my best guesses as to what the coming year holds in store for all of us. In past years I have correctly foreseen the death of Patrick Swayze and Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton’s failure to be elected president (when everyone else was certain it was imminent).

Criteria:  The rankings don’t matter; I list each and every one of my predictions and track them all year. The actual top 5 are organized more for entertainment purpose than for belief in the strength of each prediction. It’s wide open; from sports to celebrity deaths, politics to the economy, anything and everything can be touched upon in the annual list of predictions.

Rob's Top 5

5. In the food world, veggies will rule in 2016. They will be offered as main dishes in more and more restaurants (watch for the explosion in popularity of beets, they will be 2016’s Kale), more and more restaurants, including at least one major national chain will eliminate tipping your servers, and bubbly drinks (sparkling) will rule the bars

4. This year’s natural disaster story will be at least one major earthquake rattling the world, killing over 10,000 people

3.  Both California and Nevada will legalize marijuana in ways similar to Colorado

2. Celebrity Deaths in 2016: Barbara Walters, John Madden, Nancy Reagan and Lil’ Wayne.

1.  Hillary Clinton will NOT be the next president of the United States

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Ben Affleck will be horribly mocked for his portrayal of Batman

Apple will buy Tesla and produce the I-car

Amazon will announce the launch of their own shipping company, possibly by purchasing the USPS, or by buying a smaller shipping company and building it out. Fed ex and UPS CEO’s Awill have simultaneous heart attacks upon hearing the news

Regardless of who the Republican Nominee for president is, the Vice-Presidential candidate will be South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (see my political blog to note that I made this prediction in November, 2015, long before she delivered the State of The Union response and started getting national attention)

The San Francisco Giants will defeat the Chicago Cubs in the NL Championship series and will, in fact win their 4th World Series in 7 years, all in even numbered annuals of 2010, 2012, 2014, and now 2016. Their pitching is simply too strong (and remember, I HATE the Giants with a white-hot-rage)
