Rob's Spring Break - 2018
Round 2

A few weekends ago, Christina and I gathered about 60 friends and family and celebrated our previous month’s wedding

Huge thanks to CYMK photography who did an amazing job with our pics, so that everyone could keep their cellphones holstered and just have fun

The whole event was masterfully catered by our friends and Smoke Junction Café and everyone raved about the food

Unlike Dawn, I’m not going to post a bunch of photos of people you don’t know…so here’s Engineer Bob (Oh god damnit)

That’s Phil from Longhorn Meat Company and Dawn’s husband Gary obviously laughing at something I just said (I am not pictured but trust me)

Family Law Attorney Lana Shearer was in the house

And look who else made it! All the way from his new gig in Dallas, Texas, it’s our former ugly-shirted station Manager and his wife

Not to be outdone, Christina’s sister, Bre, flew out from Dallas as well!

I have no idea what’s being said here but I know that’s my wife’s “I can’t believe you just said that but I’m trying to be polite,” face

This, meanwhile, is my legitimate “Holy crap someone other than me actually said something funny,” face

And then there’s that moment when your wife asks you if you remember the name of the couple behind her…

When you host a party like this, it’s important to get time with every guest…even if it’s in front of the pantry while inspecting the fire extinguisher. (That’s our friend, Bubba, BTW)

Producer Brandon showed up just so he could tell people to “shhhhhh”

I’m guessing Producer Amanda was told to “shhhh” most times in the evening

Brandon, of course, was accompanied by the always photogenic Mrs. Brandon (Christina and I believe this should be a Lens Crafters ad…it’s just perfect)

Producer Nick was on hand and spent most of the night doing this…pouring himself free liquor

Producer Nick says “OMG, there’s free food too! I am so excited!”

Chief of RAD security, Officer Pat, was of course on hand…if for no other reason so my wife wasn’t the only black person in attendance. #Diversity

It wouldn’t be a RAD party without super-attorney Kevin Hughey!

If Christina decides on a career change, we’ve decided she can be the face of Tahoe Blue Vodka

Here, Robert from Smoke Junction café looks as though he’s contemplating ways he could murder my attorney, Kevin Hughey

Unfortunately, Gary brought Dawn with him

Phil from Longhorn meats is sneaking up on Amanda to apparently bite her face off

Longtime listeners will remember my friend and chiropractor of 18 years, “Doctor,” Ron. Why he looks like he’s working security here, I have no idea

As you can see, no one had fun at all…

No one liked each other…

And absolutely no one laughed

Still…no laughing

Does this count as laughing?

The party started at 4pm…we made it to bed at 2AM. I’m guessing this picture was taken around midnight as it’s my “OK, that’s neat, now get out,” face

And about a minute later this is Christina’s “OKAY, it was a great party, now grab your jackets,” face
Round 1

On Saturday March 24, Christina and I threw a “wedding celebration” party with 60 friends and family. Somehow, we actually found an amazing house in Sacramento to host the party

Obviously the backyard, made for entertaining was a big part of what drew us to the house

Inside, the house was spacious and surrounded by giant windows and great views

Inside, a beautiful kitchen also provided a perfect place to set up the bar for our alcoholic guests

As you can see, none of our guests went thirsty (and this isn’t even half of the liquor we brought (and almost all was drank within the 8 ½ hours of the party)

Huge thanks to our friends at Tahoe Blue Vodka for providing a case of 1 liter bottles (all but 3 were gone by the end of the night)

Tahoe Blue even made up special shot glasses as party favors

On Friday night, our friends came to by to help us set-up and decorate. Here, Sylvia and Christina work on the table centerpieces

What tables you ask? Standing tables for guests to lean on, eat on, drink on…all of which Bubba (yes that’s his name) and I put together and then immediately watched March Madness

Truth be told it took Bubba and I about 3 minutes to “assemble” the tables. When asked hours later, while the girls were still working, what we were doing to help, we reminded them that the tables were put together and ready for them in the other room

Eventually the girls got their act together and started getting the tablecloths done (while we still watched March Madness)

Proof that even in Sacramento, sunsets are gorgeous (just ignore the brown water)

The property we rented had giant lemon trees…and by giant I mean look at the size of that thing! It’s not a grapefruit, it’s a lemon I picked right off the tree

On Saturday morning, we prepped for everyone’s 4pm arrival, so I of course built a wine glass tower

And once the windows were opened, the tower blew over. So much for that idea

Speaking of towers, we had 50 mini-cupcakes on hand for dessert

We bought Red Velvet (Christina’s favorite) and Snickerdoodle (my favorite)

And of course, we provided two basic flavors…and since we don’t have sticks up our butts, we had fun labeling the flavors

All night it was odd hearing people saying “I’m eating wife right now,” or “husband is delicious”

Meanwhile, Outside, Robert from Smoke Junction is already on seen preparing the AMAZING catered food we had

As you’ll see next week, we had incredible appetizers, sides, filet and this gorgeous chicken

A true lost art in America…the ability to actually build a roaring wood fire. Thanks for teaching me how to be a man, dad

As guests arrived, they were met with one of our wedding photos as we walked along the Monterey Beach where we were married and they all wrote us a quick note

We also had a professional photographer, Chris from CMYK Photography, on hand to document the evening and we’ll share a bunch of his shots next week

Hey look! It’s Producer Nick and his way-too-good-for-him wife! It was an amazing party and we’ll have lots more shots next week
